  • administers and enforces Canadian Human Rights Act, which prohibits discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, marital or family status, disability, sexual orientation, or conviction for an offence for which a pardon has been issued, in employment or access to services and facilities available to the public in federally regulated areas -- federal government, crown corporations, banks, telephone companies, interprovincial transportation, radio and television broadcasting
