Service description:
Community-based project promoting healthy development of young children living in downtown Toronto
collaborative project of 8 agencies serving 8 neighbourhoods
general health promotion strategies include networks and coalitions working for improved child health, community development and capacity building, efforts to influence public policy
Specific programs vary by site, but include -- prenatal, postnatal and breastfeeding support programs
family resource programs and drop ins
day camp, school readiness, fitness, craft, music programs for children
parenting (including fathering) programs and workshops (Nobody's Perfect, lesbian moms group, healthy child development, infant stimulation)
parent relief
community kitchens
domestic violence awareness and prevention
adult health promotion including fitness
information and referral
