The struggle to meet all of your financial commitments can sometimes mean that you find yourself a little short when the time comes to pay your natural gas bill. If you've recently had difficulty paying, or are concerned about making your next payment, Winter Warmth may be able to help.
Heating Bill?
Winter Warmth is coordinated by a network of community agencies through the United Way and is sponsored by Enbridge Gas Distribution, Enersource Hydro Mississauga, Hydro Ottawa Ltd, PowerStream, Toronto Hydro-Electric System Ltd and Union Gas.
Who qualifies for Winter Warmth?
Winter Warmth is designed for low-income families and individuals living at/or below the poverty line who have exhausted all other sources of financial support. Approved households receive a one time grant.
Upon successful completion of the application process, the funds will be credited to your heating bill. It's peace of mind during the long winter season - and it can go a long way to getting your energy bill back under control.
Availability of funding from Winter Warmth is limited to individuals from low-income households that satisfy at least one or more of the following conditions:
- Have energy bills that are currently in arrears;
- Have recently received a disconnection notice;
- Are experiencing personal circumstances that make it difficult to pay current energy bill.
Energy Efficiency Program - Enhanced TAPS Program
The Enhanced TAPS program is available by application to qualifying low-income families and individuals. The Enhanced TAPS program provides you with energy saving tools including:Ask your community service agency to help you apply.
- Installation of a programmable thermostat
- Installation of foam pipe insulation and energy efficient showerheads plus aerators for kitchen and bathroom faucets are provided
